When to Use Contact Archiving

Use this feature to remove inactive contacts from your day-to-day searches, such as:

  • One-time customers from years ago

  • Former vendors or business contacts

  • Outdated addresses or phone numbers

Tip: Only archive contacts you’re sure won’t be active again. If a contact is accidentally deleted, you can restore them by contacting Support.

How to Archive a Contact:

Step 1 – Open Marketing

From your Lovingly dashboard, click the Marketing icon in the left-hand menu.

Step 2 – Go to Contacts

Select Contacts from the Marketing menu.

Step 3 – Choose the Contact

Find and click the name of the contact you want to archive.

Step 4 – Archive

In the contact’s detail page, click the Archive button in the top toolbar (next to Edit and Print).

Step 5 – Confirm

A confirmation window will appear. Click Yes, Archive.
This will hide the contact from dropdowns and selection lists but keep their full order history and communication records in past orders.

What Happens After Archiving

  • Contact no longer appears in active searches or dropdowns.

  • All historical orders, notes, and communications remain intact.

  • Lifetime customer value and delivery history are preserved.

  • Activity logs record when and by whom the contact was archived.

FAQ

Will archiving delete the contact’s data?
No. Archiving only hides the contact from active lists—none of their history is removed.

Can I unarchive a contact?
Yes. Contact Lovingly Support, and we can restore them.

Will archived contacts still appear in past order records?
Yes. All past orders and details remain exactly as they were.

Bottom Line:
Contact Archiving helps you keep your contact list focused on the relationships that matter today, while preserving the complete history of past interactions.
