Selling alcohol is a quick way to upgrade orders and give online Gifters more options. After all, a bottle of champagne or a nice red would pair perfectly with a celebratory arrangement.

Getting Started

To begin selling alcohol:

  • Your business must have a valid alcohol license in the U.S. (Lovingly will need a copy to keep on file).

  • You must sign a contract amendment for alcohol sales.

To turn on this service and provide a copy of your alcohol license, please reach out to us at (800) 533-1787 or help@lovingly.com. Once alcohol sales are enabled for your account, you’ll have the option to mark any of your custom products or custom add-ons as a 21+ product.

Please note:

  • Alcohol sales are currently supported for in-state sales only, regardless of whether your shop has a license to sell in additional states.

  • Alcohol products are only available for Lovingly Shop and POS orders. They won’t appear on Lovingly.com.

  • Partners selling alcohol are fully responsible for adhering to the laws for their license in their state.

Best Practices for Selling & Delivering Alcohol

Online Orders

Products and add-ons containing alcohol will be marked on Lovingly Shop. During checkout for an order containing alcohol, the Gifter will be asked to enter their date of birth and also confirm the person receiving the delivery is 21 or older.

If either condition is not met, the Gifter won’t be able to proceed with checkout.

If the Gifter attempts to order alcohol for delivery outside the state where your shop is located, they’ll see an error message and be prompted to either remove the alcohol add-on and/or choose a non-alcohol product.

POS Orders

When an order containing alcohol is placed through Lovingly POS, the shop employee should enter the Gifter’s date of birth and ask the Gifter to confirm that the person receiving the delivery is 21 or older. If either the Gifter or recipient is under 21, the order can’t contain alcohol.

Order Confirmation Emails

The email confirmation for orders containing alcohol will include a reminder that pickup/delivery requires proof of age.

Order Pickup

When an order containing alcohol is picked up, a shop employee should check the person’s ID to confirm they’re 21 or older. If the person is under 21, they may not pick up the order. While only some states require a signature on receipt of alcohol, Lovingly recommends recording a signature for all pickups.

Order Delivery

When an order containing alcohol is delivered, the delivery driver should check the person’s ID to confirm they’re 21 or older. In addition, the delivery driver should be 21 or older. While only some states require a signature on receipt of alcohol, Lovingly recommends recording a signature for all deliveries.
